College Start-Up Grants

The Friends of Namuncha decided in 2019 to create a fund that will enable students who gain the grades for college entry to learn crafts and trades, to enter college. For higher education colleges and universities this will enable them to enroll for the first semester and then apply for a government grant.

We have secured places for students to study on Community development, tourism and hospitality, electrical engineering, agriculture,  and hairdressing.  We are currently looking to  enable students to attend courses on engineering, building and construction and animal husbandry.

For craft colleges there is already a 50% government grant for all students and the grant will enable them to enrol and complete the 2 year course. It is anticipated that the majority of those who attend the craft courses will return to work and develop the community. The cost of this project is between £350 to £450 depending upon the college attended. We aim to raise sufficient funds for at least three students per year.

So far this process has enabled five young people to start their college courses.  During the pandemic one undertook her college assignment in the community with the Chimney Project.

Click on the button below to donate either a full or smaller amounts to add to the grand total.  All money donated to this project will be used to enable an individual student to start on their college course.  Thank you for helping individuals and the community to become more self-sufficient.

Timothy

TI'm one of the beneficiaries of Friends Namuncha sponsorship from secondary school. I completed in 2018, then joined Maasai Mara Technical Institute for Hotel Management. After that, I expanded my skills at a driving school and later trained as a driving instructor at Rift Valley Technical Institute. I now work at Batian Driving School as an instructor, with branches in Naivasha.

Elvas

My name is Elvas Kimtai, and I am writing to sincerely and wholeheartedly thank the Friends of Namuncha for the incredible support you have given me over the years. You allowed me to become who I am today. By sponsoring my four years of secondary school education, you laid a strong foundation for my future. You never grew tired of supporting me. Even after secondary school, you went further and paid my start-up fees, making it possible for me to enroll in the Electrical Engineering course at Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology. Because of your generosity, I completed my studies and graduated as an Electrical Engineer. This achievement would not have been possible without your kindness, sacrifice, and belief in my potential. However, throughout my journey, I discovered that my passion goes beyond technical work. I have always had a deep desire to serve society, interact with people, and impact lives positively. Guided by this calling (Jeremiah 1:5; Ephesians 2:8-10), currently I'm at MOFFAT BIBLE COLLEGE, where I am pursuing a Diploma in Theology. The training and certification I have received have greatly enriched my life and strengthened my ability to serve both God and the community effectively. Your support did not just educate me; it transformed my life. Because of you, I have been able to dream, grow, and pursue both my professional career and my spiritual calling.I am truly grateful. May God bless you abundantly for your generosity, kindness, and unwavering belief in me. Thank you once again for investing in my future and for giving me hope. With sincere appreciation, Elvas Kimtai.
