Primary school garden

The primary school garden was set up by Ubuntu Life, formerly Comfort the Children.  The charity funds sustainability projects in Kenya and in the Maai Maihu district.

Children learn to grow food in the school garden and they have established backyard garden projects for local families.

In 2014, Friends of Namuncha supported the installation of a wind pump. The wind pump provides clean water to the school and for the watering of the school garden.

There are now several small fields growing a variety of produce for sale in the local markets.  The school shamba continues to deliver vegetables for the school kitchen and for local families.  The money they make goes to buying seeds for the next crop and to update the irrigation system.

Whilst this project is now running itself there are other projects that you can read more about on our Projects page.
